How To Eat Healthier this Summer

How To Eat Healthier this Summer
Eat plenty of greens
No real surprise here, but you should aim to fill half your plate with fruits and greens at every meal. If you’re struggling on how to incorporate them, check out a few ideas RIGHT HERE.
Drink a lot of water
There are a surprising amount of perks to consuming enough water. Water helps you feel full (so you’ll snack less), it helps keep your skin clear, it also helps fight fatigue. The hardest part is actually remembering to drink it early and often.
Seek out delicious combinations
A healthy combination can pack a powerful healthy punch, so try and find a few foods you enjoy and pair them. According to Danielle Omar, a registered dietician, the ideal snack is either ‘protein and produce’ or ‘protein and carbs’. Try options like watermelon, feta, and spinach and sliced avocado with cherry tomatoes together. Carbs alone process into sugar too quickly and don’t always get burnt off.
Keep an eye on carbs
Carbs are an essential part of your diet, but because much of their energy doesn’t get used, your body stores them as fat. A low-carb lifestyle has become popular, but don’t get carried away. Before you consider cutting them out altogether, think about eating better carbs. Authority Nutrition says that certain starches, found in foods like potatoes, cashews and raw oats are resistant to digestion and improve metabolic health.
Eat a fiber-full breakfast
Try to keep an eye out for cereal that contains seven grams or more. That way you’ve met your fiber quota all in one bowl and you’re ahead before you’ve even finished breakfast. According to experts, upping fiber intake “helps control the insulin spike caused by eating refined carbohydrates.”
Eat plenty of nuts
A healthy intake of nuts has plenty of the good fats, vitamin E and much more. Try out Brazil nuts, pistachios, and almonds in single-serving bags, which are ideal for keeping in a desk drawer or purse.
Watch your sodium intake
We know too much is bad for your heart, but the American Heart Association wants to remind you that salt can also cause problems like water retention. Because a majority of Americans get a bulk of their salt from eating processed foods, try your hand at homemade pizza instead of frozen for family pizza night. In fact, stay away from the frozen dinner aisle in general.
Keep it up whenever your out
Social get-togethers can be a disaster for all of your healthy intentions. Along with the delicious smells and a growling stomach, peer pressure can easily rear its head and derail your progress. To stay in control, try checking the menu online and deciding on a healthy option before you go.
Keep an eye on your calorie intake
Don’t try and drive yourself crazy by completely cutting ice cream out of your diet, just consume it in moderation. Eating it straight from the tub is asking for trouble. Use a ramekin or small dish and stop before you’re full.
Snack, but snack well
We all hit those points in the day where we’re hungry and time is an issue. Pre-planning your snacks and making sure they contain something like carrots and hummus, Greek yogurt or even an apple as a healthy snack substitute.

7 Stages OF Going On A Road Trip With Your Friends!

7 Stages OF Going On
A Road Trip With Your Friends!

Nothing can be more exciting than going on a road trip with your buddies. (After the plan actually materialises ahead of endless planning on whatsapp groups.)

From packing your clothes and shopping for some last minute supplies to booking the best hotel and making sure that the fuel tank of the designated car is completely full, we do everything we possibly can to make sure that our road trip goes perfectly.

But no matter how hard we try, things never go according to plan, as regardless of who we are and where we decide to go for our road trip, there are always a few stages that all of us will go through.

These seven stages are, for better or for worse, common to all such road trips and if you’ve gone on such trips before, you’d totally relate to them:

1. Making that perfect Playlist which you’ll be listening to on loop.

Making the perfect Playlist for your trip is actually the very first stage of going on a road trip. As you’ll be on the road for a decently long time, you’d really want to listen to some of your favorite songs on loop.

In fact, any trip (especially a road trip) is virtually incomplete without good music and so needless to say, making a Playlist of such songs becomes vital.

2. Constantly stopping to click selfies.

Taking selfies and framing memories with your buddies is something that’s become mandatory in life. And when it’s during a road trip where you’re crossing gorgeous and scenic locations, hopping out of the car for a selfie with your friends is all you want to do.
3. Sitting back, listening to the songs in your Playlist and taking that moment in.

Remember that Playlist we mentioned that you create for your trip?

Well, this is where you sit back, relax and listen to the songs on it, all the while taking in the scenic locations you’re crossing or staring at the stars (provided you’re NOT the one whose driving) and living that moment to the fullest.

This will surely be one of the best stages of your trip because you end up finding ultimate happiness in little things.

4. Annoying each other to no end.

What’s the fun in a road trip if you don’t even annoy your friend who is driving, or click pictures of that one friend who is peeing on the road, or just irritate someone who is fast asleep?

After all, a road trip is about the memories that you make with your friends, ones that are to be remembered for life.

5. Stopping at roadside dhabas for food.

While you may have packed your fair share of snacks to munch on during your trip, nothing will beat the sheer joy of eating some delicious food at a roadside dhaba.

When you’re on the highway and you see a small roadside dhaba, complete with a traditional setting, nothing should stop you from parking your car and enjoying a nice breakfast/lunch/dinner there.

6. Reaching your destination.

Reaching your destination is one of the last stages you’ll go through when on a road trip with your friends, although it’s important to keep in mind that it’s not about the destination, rather it’s about the journey you went on.

But fret not, as there’s one more stage left before you trip gets over.

7. Finally, the ride back home.

Want to know what the beauty of a road trip is? You get to live it all over again a second time!

After you’ve reached your destination, you get to make your way back home and go through the first five stages all over again. Although you’d be more tired and less energetic than you were before, you’d still have just as much fun as you did when you were making your way towards your destination

7 Things We All Want To Tell Our Parents But We Don't!

7 Things We All Want To Tell
Our Parents But We Don't!

We all know that our parents love us ardently. We also know that there’s nothing that we cannot share with them thinking they won’t understand.
But even then, there are certain things that we tend to hide from them because we don’t know with certainity, how they will react. Due to this fear, we keep things to ourselves and wonder how it would be if we could tell them everything.
Well, I don’t know when you will get the courage to tell them whatever you feel, but I have figured out a few of those things that most of us want to tell our parents.

Let’s see if yours is listed among these 7 things.
1. We hate it when they pressurize us to study.

We know that our parents are worried about our future for our betterment, but they are hurting us in the process, while doing so.
Already the pressure of clearing exams and scoring well is too high and in such situations, our minds are just not capable of dealing with the additional burden of expectations that comes from our parents; it just makes it worse for us.
2. We don’t like how they have so many expectations from us.
It’s understandable that we are their kids and they want us to behave in a certain manner, but we have our own life too.
Whether it is about our career or our love life, we want to choose it on our own and not as per our parents’ expectations.

3. We want to be something other than what they want.
No, we don’t want to be a doctor, engineer, teacher or get an MBA because they want us to be, we will if that's where our passion truly lies.
What's the harm if we turn out photographers, dancers, writers and other things that help us bring out the best of our creativity. Only if all parents could understand that.
4. We want to talk about our love life.
Wouldn't it be amazing if we could actually tell them about the person we like and who we are dating? After all, shouldn't they be the first ones to know what is going on in our lives and help deal with our problems should we run into a few?
We want to live in a world where we can pick a person to date and be transparent about it with our parents and not have them wonder about what society would think.
5. We need our space too.
We know that we are lucky to have a family and we cherish every single moment we spend with them. But there comes a time when we want a little privacy and space and we hesitate in asking for the same. How I wish we could!
6. We get drunk and wild.
Who wouldn’t want to tell all their drunk and wild stories to their parents? Unfortunately, if we ever tell them, we know the consequences won’t be in our favour, huh?
In an ideal world, we wouldn't even mind drinking with our parents, would we?
7. How much we love them.
We live in a time where none of us are as expressive as we should be towards our parents. That’s why we don’t even remember the last time we said ‘I love you’ to them. Well, you can say this now!

9 Signs Your Relationship Is Stronger Than Ever!

9 Signs Your Relationship Is Stronger Than Ever!

Relationships take a lot of work. Sometimes things may go wrong and people consider those things as the end of it. We all read stories of different people conquering the love of their life and it makes us want it badly.
We all thrive on love. But hardly anybody wants to work it out. If you're one of those who has made it to a point where you guys are inseparable now, you will relate to these signs of being a steady couple.
1. You're thankful to have them no matter how long it's been.
Every little thing they do for you is still appreciated and you love them harder, day after day.
2. You know how to handle your arguments.
Fighting and not talking to each other for three days straight is now a thing of the past. You now sort out things maturely and end the quarrel even before it can begin.
3. You're most comfortable around each other.
I mean 'crying during movies, burping and hogging up all the food like a monster' comfortable.
4. You're past the honeymoon stage and everything is still as good as it was.
You must have heard people saying that 'the spark in a relationship fades with time'. But that is not what agree with. The spark is very much there and that's why you're where you are!
5. You've got your future planned out in your head.
Because your S/O is an important part of your life and everything has to include them.
6. You're possessive about each other but it doesn’t take over anyone's personal space.
The possessiveness that exists is only healthy and you can trust on each other to NOT invade anyone's privacy. Everything is transparent.
7. You've been with each other through thick and thin.
And even through all that, you've come out stronger, and have had your love grow.
8. They are your partner in crime.
You can be a darling and an evil devil with each other. You're together in everything. Every. Damn. Thing.
9. You make each other happy.
They're your ultimate happiness destination. You know you can always count on them, and being with them in any given tough situation just makes you feel better
